Patrick Bamford Signs With the Blades Despite Leading Abusive Songs About Coach Chris Wilder

The striker has signed with Sheffield United just seven months after instigating insulting taunts aimed at the team's coach, Chris Wilder.

This experienced forward, without a club since leaving Leeds United, has agreed to a deal with the Championship club in difficulty until January. Bamford's seven-year career at Elland Road was ended through agreement in August.

Among the player's last memorable actions as a Leeds player involved leading abusive chants regarding Chris Wilder during Leeds' success festivities in April. Now, the one-cap England international is set to play under Wilder as Sheffield United's boss seeks to rescue the team he loves away from the relegation zone.

Previous History Involving the Striker & the Manager

Both men had history before Leeds won promotion to the Premier League the previous campaign while Sheffield United lost the playoff final to Sunderland. The manager called the forward as a "muppet" back when the roles were reversed in 2018-19 and the Blades won automatic promotion whereas Leeds United fell short in the playoffs.

Reconciliation & Moving Forward

All seems has been put behind them with Sheffield United, the league's least productive attack, urgently requiring of a boost up front and Bamford hoping to rejuvenate his career.

The song about Wilder gained traction this spring. A repentant Bamford along with Leeds boss, Daniel Farke, phoned the Sheffield United manager the following day.

Chris Wilder stated back then: “Had a conversation with Pat recently and I’ve no issue at all with it. I'm uncertain about the words used from a fellow pro! However I appreciated and admired him giving me a call.

“We had a short while and the same again I talked with Daniel Farke too and had a longer discussion together and he is a great person, a top guy. When I was playing we used to dish it out and accept it and that is an integral part of the game across all levels, even on Sunday league. I've got absolutely no issue. I am cool with the situation and I told him that to Pat.”

Recent Playing Struggles

Bamford featured in 18 games for Leeds in the previous campaign however the ex- Nottingham Forest, Chelsea and Middlesbrough player has faced difficulties with injury over the past few seasons.
